In this video Fredrick’s taking you to try some of his favorite Vietnamese Street Food! The Vietnamese Bún chả! This dish comes from Northern Vietnam but the street food vendor we visit today in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam is considered one of the best!
This dish recently became famous because of a recent trip to Hanoi from Barack Obama, who sat down to have a couple of beers and Bun Cha with Anthony Bourdain. Vendors all over Vietnam began referring to the dish as “Obama Noodle”, or the “Obama special” served with two beers.

So what is all the foodie talk about? What is Bun Cha?
Well as explained in my video its a delcious dish with grilled pork and noodle. The little meatball that you see is what is referred to as Cha in northern Vietnam. Bun means rice noodle which is good to know if you plan on eating Vietnamese Street Food on your own.
The broth is a sweet and sour with a hint of fish sauce. Nothing to overwhelming for those who aren’t custom to the taste of fish sauce, just enough to provide some umami and depth to the broth. The taste of smoke blends into the broth making this an fresh and bright dish.

Traveling to Saigon next week, need the address of this place!!!
No address lol
He knew how to eat bun cha
Back of the Bike Tours. So after all blah blah blah on this posted video, not sure if you got pay to say it was the best .. or can you please explain why it was the best; if you didn't get for your free meal, comparing to others in Saigon? Where is the address of this place (Bun Cha) at the end of your video 4:13?
Nice video. Look like BUN CHA HA NOI – The one that Obama had on his trip there. I m a Vietnamese myself, but I heard about this BUN for 1st time when I was 30
where is thst place please?
Just curious if locals get sick from the water too or mostly foreigners? Do we need to worry about the vegetables being washed with tap water? Is there something we can take if we do get sick from the food/water or just let it go through our system? I'm going back next month for the first time in 40 years so want to enjoy myself and want to know what to look out for. Thank you for any response!
Bun Cha is my favourite Vietnamese dish.
banana sprouts
Is it safe to order fruit slushies drinks like "Sinh To" in Saigon on the streets? How do we know the ice is clean so we won't get sick? Or should we go to a local restaurant and order drinks instead?
What is the name and address of this Bun Cha place? I want to check it out when I come to Saigon in 2 weeks. Thanks 🙂
Great video!
So, what about the difference in food flora? Would first time tourists need to watch out what veggies, drinks, meats they consume?
Yes, address please!
He tells us that it's the best…But what's the address for this place?
Is the Cha sweet and sour to your right hot or cold or room temp?
Looks so tasty!
Drooling !!! It's 9pm here in Silicon Valley!!!
My favourite dish!
"Chả" actually refers to the Vietnamese meatballs/meatloaf 😀 not the broth
Also interesting to see a different way of eating it in the South cuz up North we just drown the bun in the broth haha 🙂
Xin cho em biết quán nay ten j nam ở đâu ? Cảm ơn. 🙂
Thank you – said by a vietnamese living in the south and don't know how to eat this cuisine
